I love suckling pig and charcoal BBQ pork with a tasty rub, but this mouthwatering Texan style pulled pork burger recipe is by far the easiest.

I love crackle, pork belly, BBQ pork ribs, Char Sui Pork, pork buns, pork dumplings. I just love PORK!

This recipe includes some “special” ingredients that might surprise you. We use Coca Cola as it tenderizes the meat and the flavor really compliments the BBQ style of the pork.

Ingredients For Making Texan Style Pulled Pork Burgers:

  • 2kg Pork Shoulder, boneless
  • 1 Onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves of Garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Cumin, ground
  • 1 tablespoon of Smoked Paprika
  • 1 cup of Coca Cola
  • 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of Tomato Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

  1. Combine all the ingredients, except the pork, and place in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the pork to the slow cooker, spoon the sauce over the pork to marinade.
  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  4. Remove the pork from the cooker, and use two forks shred the meat.
  5. Pour the sauce into a saucepan and simmer on high until thick.
  6. Add the pulled pork to the sauce and mix well.
  7. Serve.

If you don’t have a slow cooker you can get the same result in an oven by baking the pork at 125C/260F in a baking tray covered in foil.
