Our BBQ Style Beef Jerky Recipe will have you saying farewell to prepackage meat snacks. This recipe is super easy and the jerky can dry while you sleep, ready for meaty snacks the next day.
Combine the ingredients for the marinade in a non reactive container, glass is good.
Place the steak strips into the marinade and refrigerate overnight or at a minimum 4 hours.
Remove the meat from the marinade and place the beef strips on the dehydrator shelves. Ensure there is adequate space between the pieces to allow airflow. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes to the level of heat you prefer.
Set the dehydrator to 70C/160F and allow the steak to dehydrate overnight. The length of time you dehydrate the meat will determine the texture of the beef jerky. Somewhere between 8 and 14 hours will usually give good results but test the jerky and turn the dehydrator off when the desired result is achieved.
The beef jerky can be stored in a jar at room temperature and does not need refrigeration.
